Cats ARE Aliens

Last week fellow Substaker

Andrew Smith

published a newsletter titled, “Dogs and Spaceships”. In it, he compared his various faithful furry friends to forms of space transport. I countered with the comment that “Cats ARE from outer space.” He challenged me to prove it.

And so, here begins my thesis:

Cats:

Are shape-shifters

Riki Tiki Tavi, the alley cat from Pekanbaru, Indonesia, disguised as a plant:

Are larger than life

Riki’s invasion of a proscenium theatre:

Occupy high places

Ginger, pandemic rescue #1, perched above it all:

Are sometimes tubular

Ginger shooting the tube:

Are Coneheads

Baghera, pandemic rescue #2, after sewing his ear back on and generally being “fixed” up:

Are Superior

Above them all, from her now heavenly throne, the wee creature who came to this earth as an Ugly Duckling—Baby Flecks in Aceh, Indonesia:

Transformed into The Queen Bee, my 17-year avatar, my forever furry, soul-mate: Flecks looks down on us all.
