By the way, I'm remiss for not reading your posts. I had to stop Substack emails coming to my inbox as it was overwhelming. Today I decided to look for your posts, and I'm glad I did. I'll come looking more often. Keep writing!
Thank you for that encouragement! With Notes being a bit funky in the last month or so, I never see any Notes activity from you anymore. And, yes, that email onslought. Hah. fire hose. But, my own fault because I've subscribed to so many good ones! I'm sure it appears that I am not reading yours.... however, as you know, I purchased your ebook and am over halfway through it now! Your characters are now running around in my head during the day!
I love that my characters are running around in your head. Lol! Actually, I haven’t been on notes lately since I started back with the school year. I’m not sure if you know I’m a teacher. It’s difficult to keep up with Notes now. The truth is, I hardly even read any Substack posts I do miss it though.
Ahh, no, I did not know you are a teacher. Well, then, you have an excuse! LOL! Hopefully, you can pop on during school holidays. Will you get an email if I tag you in a post once I'm finished reading your book?
What a beautiful piece, and beautifully written. It’s timely for me as my siblings and I are watching my mother fade. A vibrant, independent woman having to rely on her children, and particularly my brother, who has moved from Boston to live with her during this time. You are right. We need to give her the space to be who she is to the very end.
"But wisdom often comes from unlikely sources."
Love this post, Lausanne. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! It was a hard one to write. Took some time to make sense of swirling thoughts. And a lot of emotion to wrangle.
Beautifully tied together with new meaning. T read both books years ago and loved them, but your insight has me digging them back out. Thanks.
Thank you! It is funny what we see after the passage of time. Some of the books I least enjoy stick with me the most.
