This is an excellent question ... sharing it with NOTES. So many possible benefits of feeding us tidbits now. Building community, seeing what people respond to ... or what they don't "get." your own reactions and new ideas as you see something in print, the motivation of polishing something for print ... looking forward to seeing what you share.
Lausanne - I don't think it would hurt to drop a random excerpt or chapter here and there. Will build intrigue. Also, depending on how you publish it, most of the folks who buy the novel would probably not be on Substack. With the exception, of course, of those of us who will have had our appetite whetted from reading the excerpts. :D
Start!! I can relate to how scary this might feel. I have ebee reluctant myself.... for many reasons too complicated to go into here, but I think the Cork made about different audiences is valid. And the reading experience is different on Substack than with a book. I LOVE the idea of your commentary about the scenes, which is what I plan to do on my Ream page with my book. I say, go for it! Give some to the readers and see what happens! I'll be here cheering you on.
