This is an excellent question ... sharing it with NOTES. So many possible benefits of feeding us tidbits now. Building community, seeing what people respond to ... or what they don't "get." your own reactions and new ideas as you see something in print, the motivation of polishing something for print ... looking forward to seeing what you share.
Lausanne - I don't think it would hurt to drop a random excerpt or chapter here and there. Will build intrigue. Also, depending on how you publish it, most of the folks who buy the novel would probably not be on Substack. With the exception, of course, of those of us who will have had our appetite whetted from reading the excerpts. :D
Thanks! Great to know your thoughts on it. So many new ideas to consider around here.
As to the pup - the other name for the breed is Heeler. She's a "Blue Heeler". Hard as nails herders. Crazy high energy. Uncanny smart. She was given to my 80 year old parents several years ago. (???) Dad passed in 2021. When my mom suddenly passed last year, we inherited her. She already lived with us but she turned to my husband as her new north star. She's has two faults - she hates people she doesn't know and she hates cats. Will kill them. When she and Mom moved in, we closed in an arch and put in an exterior door to divide the house between her and our two cats. This is how we now live. A house divided. But we love her.
Amazing story! We adopted Dink Dink about 2 years ago. We lost Molly in 2020, and that was maybe the worst year of my life. Dinkles entered the picture and her gooberness has been a godsend.
Start!! I can relate to how scary this might feel. I have ebee reluctant myself.... for many reasons too complicated to go into here, but I think the Cork made about different audiences is valid. And the reading experience is different on Substack than with a book. I LOVE the idea of your commentary about the scenes, which is what I plan to do on my Ream page with my book. I say, go for it! Give some to the readers and see what happens! I'll be here cheering you on.
Well, maybe you could stay up late and I could get up earlier??? LOL! But, YES! Let's do it! What are your weekends like? Can you dig out my email from your sub list and email me directly? starts with "nomad".

Thank for that encouragement!

Good point! Likely different audience here. Thanks!
Can you tell me anything about the little furbaby angel pictured?
Haha, she's an Australian Cattle Dog. Smartest creature I've ever known.
She's beautiful!
For what it's worth, I think the sprinkling of bits of your book would work really well.

Don't they capture our hearts?
And then some! Hang on, I'll do a quick Note and tag you in it so I can brag about my little boogermonsters.

Oh, thank you! Thank you! Best part of Substack is cheering each other onward!
We should chat by phone or Zoom sometime! But I can't do it at 3am 🤣
