I'm hesitant to make it the reader's responsibility to unsubscribe from a section. And because that means I'll have to figure out how that works. LOL! But I will likely do this option if I decide to keep everything together.
I had several different newsletters at one point and it became too much to manage, so I combined them all (except The Library) into my main one. Now, if a post seems relevant to the main theme, I publish to all. If it's something that's very niche to that section, I just post it on the site and maybe make a Note about it or hope visitors will discover it. But it's a lot easier for me to manage all in once place. And like Diana said, people can switch off a section if they don't want a particular series of posts (e.g., I always turn off podcast emails). One stop shopping is the way to go!
So far, together with optional sections is winning. It's a sigh of relief. I still have four Wordpress sites floating out there I keep meaning to update and integrate. Ain't happening. I'll let the poll run a while yet to be sure. Thanks for the input!
I went with sections for mine (pure fiction or behind the scenes). I think you could do the same, feel free to borrow from my post announcing that, because I shared how one could change your subscription details there (which I think I lifted from Substack’s help).
Cool! I knew there were "how to" guides for the Sections out there, but haven't looked at them in a year at least. Now I know where to find it :) -- So far, the sections option is winning from fellow Substackers. I didn't list it as an option because some of my readers would not have known what it meant. I'll give the Poll some time yet, so far "combine" is at 80%
You could always make a section of which people can unsubscribe off if they are not interested in your art? 🤔

There’s always a third way 🤓
I like Diana’s idea, but to me, this is just a different side to your creative persona. Of course, I may be biased by ages and phases. 😉
Many, many ages and phases of the Doublemint Twins!
I’m still waiting for the painting you oromiaed me back in 1983. 😊
Uh-oh! Now you're going to have to remind me of what that was. This poor old brain can't remember!
